Story

This substantial, one-of-a-kind display specimen is presented as yellow dendritic opalite (dendritic common opal) in red-brown matrix. Its exposed cream, honey-yellow and pale amber areas carry a dense branching brown dendritic pattern, with translucent zones and a contrasting rough red-brown host.

Viewed from different sides, the specimen shows natural variation in colour, translucency, pattern density, seams, fractures and matrix. The broad exposed faces are reflective and richly patterned, while the edges and red-brown host retain their natural geological character.

Naming note: “Opalite” is a variable trade term. It may refer to natural common opal without play-of-colour or to man-made glass or plastic imitation. Based on the photographs, this specimen is offered as a dendrite-bearing opal-like geological material; its exact mineral composition, locality and treatment status have not been laboratory verified. It is not represented as gem-grade precious opal.
