A one-of-a-kind mineral specimen from the DeGrussa Mine in Western Australia, where vivid green malachite meets earthy copper-brown matrix and darker cuprite-bearing areas. Its irregular profile and richly textured surface preserve the visual record of an oxidised copper deposit.
The specimen weighs approximately 182g, as marked in the accompanying reference note. It is presented as a natural mineral slab/specimen with the photographed textures and irregular edges left intact. Clear acrylic stands shown in the photographs are presentation supports; the listed item is the specimen itself.
The DeGrussa deposit formed in submarine volcanic rocks approximately two billion years ago. Later weathering transformed primary copper sulphides into colourful secondary minerals including malachite and cuprite.
