GEOLOGICAL NOTE
Schorl is the iron-rich, typically black member of the tourmaline group. It commonly forms in granitic pegmatites, where slow cooling allows tourmaline to crystallise alongside quartz, mica and feldspar. Its distinctive longitudinal striations and deep black lustre make it one of the most recognisable collector minerals.
