An intimate section of one of Western Australia’s rare ornamental stones. This Boogardie orbicular granite reveals concentric, radial orbicules frozen in a dark grey matrix—an arrangement formed in the ancient crust of the Western Australian Yilgarn Craton.
One face is partially polished to bring the internal pattern forward, while the remaining edge and surfaces retain their natural, tactile texture. The piece is a singular geological specimen, approximately 228g, offered as a small archive of deep time for a shelf, studio, or collection.
Boogardie orbicular granite is a Neoarchean material dated to approximately 2.692 billion years. Its orbicules are composed of zoned plagioclase with hornblende and/or biotite, set in a coarse-grained monzogranite to tonalite matrix.
