South Carolina Megalodon Tooth
A substantial fossil shark tooth with a dark, weathered crown, warm stone-coloured enamel and plenty of natural character. The contrasting textures give this specimen a powerful, timeworn presence — a piece of deep-ocean history with the kind of surface detail that rewards a closer look.
The supplier describes this tooth as a Megalodon tooth from South Carolina. Megalodon teeth are fossil remains of Carcharocles megalodon, the giant prehistoric shark that lived millions of years ago. South Carolina’s Lowcountry is well known for fossil shark material, and each tooth can vary dramatically in colour, preservation, enamel, serrations and root condition.
This is a character-grade specimen rather than a perfectly pristine display tooth: the supplied photographs show natural wear and surface variation. I will inspect the tooth carefully when it arrives and update the listing with my own photographs and final notes regarding condition, restoration and any repairs.
