The Remnant Archive Ring

A ring made from the pieces that usually never get their own story.

The Remnant Archive is built on a stainless-steel band in size 8, with a fine base layer of white strontium aluminate beneath the inlay. In low light, it gives the ring a soft, quiet glow.

The inlay is made from an entirely unique collection of stone, gem and fossil fragments gathered from the bottom of a lapidarist’s offcuts bag—the small remnants left behind after larger stones have been cut and shaped. Each coloured piece is a leftover with its own texture, colour and history.

Collected together, those overlooked fragments become something unexpected: a small geological archive worn on the hand. There was no repeated pattern and no fixed plan; the arrangement formed from what was available. Once this ring is gone, the exact combination can never be made again.

The glow is deliberately subtle in real life. The low-light photographs use longer exposures to make it visible on camera, while the actual ring reveals a gentle afterglow rather than a bright light. It charges naturally from sunlight, bright indoor light or a UV torch.
