Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood Slab — Polished Face, Raw Back

A one-of-a-kind Arizona rainbow petrified wood slab with a vivid natural palette of red, orange, yellow, cream, grey, purple and dark mineral tones.

The front face is polished to reveal the fossil wood grain and intricate mineral patterning. The cut backside/end and natural edges have been left raw and unpolished, giving the piece an appealing contrast between its reflective display face and original stone texture.

Arizona petrified wood formed when buried wood was mineralised by silica-rich groundwater in Late Triassic river deposits more than 200 million years ago. Iron, manganese and other trace impurities can create the red, orange, yellow, grey and purple hues associated with rainbow material.
