Arizona Rainbow Petrified Wood Slab — a one-of-a-kind polished display specimen with a vivid palette of red, orange, yellow, brown, purple and blue-grey mineral colours.

This substantial slab has a polished display face with its natural/raw cut edge left visible. Striking bands, fractures and colour zones preserve the character of the original wood structure after mineralisation. The specimen is sold as Arizona petrified wood; the exact collecting locality and species for this individual piece have not been documented.

Arizona's famous petrified wood deposits are associated with the Late Triassic Chinle Formation. In the Petrified Forest region, fallen wood was buried in ancient river sediments and mineral-rich fluids permineralised and replaced parts of the wood with silica. Impurities including iron, carbon and manganese contribute to the region's characteristic rainbow colours.
